Is there anyone else out there that’s just glad that they survived the month of December?!?! Yes? No? Just me? Ok. Nonetheless, I made it out and it was a marathon worth running. I survived the hustle & bustle of the holiday season relatively unscathed. Pretty much every single day revolved around my show and its needs, but what a wild ride. In other news, here are a few other things that happened in December that are noteworthy.

HEALTH & BEAUTY

Looking for a new toner? I was impressed by this one by the Korean brand, SKINFOOD. This Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Toner was great on my skin. It had the astringent-like effects without drying out my skin entirely. It also feels more like a gel than a “watery toner.” Whatever, I’d try it again or one of the other scents.

December was a haircut month! I hadn’t had it cut since I was in New Hampshire over the summer, so it was way overdue. Since the effervescent Daniel moved to NYC to pursue his dreams, I had to find a new stylist! Luckily, my very first Indy roommate, Jordan, is a stylist in Broad Ripple at Salon 6! It was a treat to pop in and catch up with her…and cut off a huge chunk of my hair! Great salon & great experience!

Also, another great month for samples from Influenster! I was sent a full-size jar of the Elvive Color Vibrancy mask. I’ve tried it a couple of times so far and I like subbing it for regular conditioner about once a week. Otherwise, it’s far too rich for my thin hair.

FASHION

Another amazing month of buying very few (or no) new clothing items. HA! That said, I was gifted a pretty amazing holiday sweater from H&M. It’s one of those festive changing sequin tops! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Pizza to a Santa Hat!

PODCASTS

I honestly didn’t listen to much else besides my usual podcasts, but I did get turned on to The Drnk Cltr Podcast. This podcast is produced locally here in Indy and they interview business owners and other Indianapolis personalities. I’ve loved hearing the stories of some of the businesses in my neighborhood!

BOOKS

Again, December didn’t give me much time to pursue anything else besides the show and hustling, but I did continue reading more of The Wife Between Us which finally went on sale this week! Thanks again to St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy!

TV

When all I ever did was get home late, I’d turn on the Netflix while getting ready for bed. Honorable mentions go to The Crown, Alias Grace, and allllll the terrible Hallmark & Lifetime Christmas movies when I just couldn’t focus on anything else.

What I’m excited to see next? Grace & Frankie – Season 4 and it goes live on Netflix this week.

Not TV related, and since I rarely go see movies, I’m gonna add it here – The Greatest Showman, people. See it. While the story is highly romanticized (history tells us that P.T. Barnum was an ass), it’s a pretty touching film. The soundtrack is wonderful and is available for streaming, so I highly recommend you check it out.

FOOD

Ok. December. I ate all the things. Thanks to all of the holiday shenanigans that I was a part of, there was a plethora of goodies.

Goodies like:
Qdoba (Secret Santa hooked me UP!)
Chocolate
Starbucks (I should be a stockholder now.)
Soupremacy
Chocolate covered pretzels – in excess.
Cheeseball
Christmas cookies
Fancy chocolates
Pumpkin Bread
Zucchini Bread
Seriously. All. The. Things.

I could keep going. It was epic.

RANDOM

Despite my insanely busy schedule, I still managed to purge a lot of stuff from my apartment as part of an amended version of the MINS Game (more to come). Over 300 items (clothing, books, DVD, papers, kitchen stuff, etc.) went to donation, sold on Poshmark or eBay, or just to the trash. I’m playing a full version of the MINS game in January. If it all goes to plan, that’s 496 items going out the door.

Also, I’m really pumped about the new essential oil diffuser that I got for myself! My Yuletide Secret Santa got me more essential oils, so I’m set for a bit! This particular diffuser plays music and has some fun lights! Keeps me entertained, at the very least.

After Christmas, life sloooooooooowed way down and I got to celebrate the season with some dear friends. With the closing of Old Point Tavern happening and friends being in town at just the right time, it was a great time to galavant down Mass Avenue. We started at Escape the Room and we escaped The Rec Room with time to spare. Then a ton of people descended upon Old Point Tavern to celebrate their last weekend open and our favorite bartender, Grant. I’m always sad to see some of these great establishments closing down on Mass Ave to make way for bigger or more corporate establishments. It’s all part of life, I guess.

Escape Room
WE DID IT!

Nacho remnants. Clearly necessary.

Look, it’s Grant back there!

Sometimes, you just gotta pose by a Jameson Christmas tree!

All in all, I’m pleased with December. It was a crazy busy month to round out the year, but I’m thrilled with it just the same!

How was your December? Get any good gifts? Tell me in the comments.

  1. This was such a cute post! I loved seeing all that you did and all the fun you had! Also don’t worry about being at Starbucks too munch I’ve spent so much there I should basically own a store.

  2. Love your monthly wrap ups! I find so many gems like that toner that I am now super excited to try out 🙂

December was also busy for me and I’m so happy to have made it out alive lol cheers to a kickass January!
