Are you ready to make a difference this Giving Tuesday? So many incredible organizations in the area are doing fantastic work to improve the lives of children, support education and the arts, and provide excellent opportunities to kids. Whether you’re looking to give back or if you’re in charge of a little corporate gifting, there is an organization for you.

From local arts organizations that bring creativity and expression to the community to teachers making a lasting impact on Indianapolis students to summer camp and extracurricular support, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and make a positive change. Why not give a gift to one of these organizations this year?

Why Giving Tuesday Matters

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It’s an opportunity to come together and give back impactfully to the charities and causes we care about most. But why does it matter? Because it’s about more than just donating. It’s about making a difference!

Participating in Giving Tuesday is easy. Choose an organization you care about, decide how you want to give (whether donating, volunteering, or spreading the word), and take action.

Supporting the Arts Community in Indianapolis

Indianapolis has a vibrant arts scene and numerous organizations that help bring creativity and expression to our community. From the Indy Arts Council to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, your donation can help these organizations continue their vital work.

When you donate to Indianapolis arts organizations, you’re not just giving money. You’re giving artists the resources they need to create. You’re giving children access to arts education. And you’re giving our community a vibrant, creative place to live.

  • Indy Arts Council – Almost all the arts organizations I have ever worked with have been funded by this organization at one time or another. Also, during the pandemic, the Indy Arts Council was outstanding to area artists.
  • Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra – This ISO is a fantastic performing arts organization here in Indianapolis. From classical to contemporary, there is truly a show for everyone. Plus, helps us keep Yuletide Celebration up and running every year!
  • The MRA Foundation – The arts can be very expensive, and The MRA Foundation gives youth the opportunity to pursue their interests in the arts via scholarships. These can be used for dance/voice lessons, production fees for a show, and so on. Plus, the story of how the organization began is truly touching.

Supporting Children & Education in Indianapolis

There are countless organizations in Indianapolis working to improve the lives of children. Your donation can make a real difference, from after-school programs to mentorship initiatives. Education is the key to a brighter future. By supporting Indianapolis public schools and teachers, you’re helping to provide our children with the opportunities they need to succeed.

But it’s not just about donating. It’s about getting involved. Whether volunteering your time, sharing your skills, or advocating for better education policies, there are plenty of ways to make a difference.

  • Donors Choose Indianapolis Map – Type in your zip code, and you’ll find plenty of schools in Indianapolis (or wherever you are) that are trying to fund a project for students.
  • Indianapolis Public Schools Foundation – Indianapolis students often lack many essential needs to succeed in school. The IPS Foundation funds students and teachers across the district from supplies to uniforms.
  • Junior League of Indianapolis – I’ve been a part of this organization for almost a year, and I love seeing our dollars and skills put to work in our community. One of the focus areas for the JLI is children in foster and kinship care – pouring into kids and groups that need our help the most.

Support Children Going to Sleepaway Summer Camp

I’m biased, but sending a child to sleepaway summer camp is a fantastic opportunity that can be out of reach for some families. The IA/FA Scholarship Foundation is an excellent way for a child to experience a real sleepaway summer camp experience in Maine. Summer camp is an incredible place for kids to learn about responsibility, community building, and many social skills. A gift to the IA/FA Foundation helps send campers from all backgrounds to our camps every year.

But it’s not just about donating. It’s about getting involved. Whether volunteering your time, sharing your skills, or advocating for better education policies, there are plenty of ways to make a difference.

Give a Gift on Giving Tuesday

Choosing the proper organization to support can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Do your research, think about what causes matter most, and listen to your heart. This Giving Tuesday, why not give a gift to an organization making a difference in Indianapolis or for children? Your support can help create a brighter future for our community.
