Everyone is shopping for SOMETHING this holiday season. It might be gifts, it might be clothes, it might be gas, or it could be groceries and so many other things. I would be surprised if someone said they weren’t spending any money at all during the holidays. That said, if you’re gonna spend the cash (who cares what you buy), you might as well get some cash back! It’s almost too simple! I’m highlighting some of my favorite apps that can help you get some cash back on your regular AND holiday spending. It can be as easy as uploading your receipt, clicking through an app’s marketplace, or scanning from an app. There’s seriously NO reason to not take advantage of some of these returns.
Try these apps for cashback deals this holiday season!
Fetch Rewards
This is particularly useful if you do a lot of shopping for groceries and other household items during the holiday season. Simply shop for all of the items you need at any grocery/big box store, snap a photo of your receipt, and watch the points roll up! Redeem your points for REAL gift cards from places like Amazon, the iTunes Store, and some of your favorite restaurants!

Rakuten (formerly Ebates)
Hands down, this site is my favorite when it comes to Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. You can use either the app or the website to take advantage of their offers. Many (many) retailers work with Rakuten and you’ll get a certain percentage back with each purchase, as long as you start the process through their links! I’ve been a member for years and I’m always excited when I get a check from them in the mail with my cash back!

Dosh
This particular app is super helpful if you’re looking for actual locations in your community where you can get instant cash back from a purchase. Open the app, search for deals nearby and find restaurants, retail shops and even hotels that can give you cash back when you link your card! Link whatever card you wish to the app and when that card is swiped at a participating retailer you’ve got cash coming right back to you!

Ibotta
I find the most success with Ibotta while I’m grocery shopping or shopping at drugstores like CVS or Walgreens. That said, they do have online options as well – Groupon, eBay, Hulu, Starbucks, etc. Their options are essentially endless. Sometimes it is as simple as scanning your receipt to select cashback offers or sometimes you can pay through the app! Highly recommended for any cash back you’re hoping to get this holiday season! Once you hit the $20 threshold, they’ll send the cash right to your PayPal account – EASY. PEASY.

CoinOut
I really like CoinOut because it’s so easy. You can scan literally any receipt from ANYWHERE to get at least some change added to your account. It doesn’t matter what the store is, so if you scan any receipt, they’ll add some change to your account. Of course, if you want to take advantage of some larger cashback returns, they do have partner opportunities with eBay, WalMart, Groupon, etc. Did I mention you can also EMAIL in your receipts? If you make a purchase online, just forward it to address on the app and you’ll get CASH BACK. It’s SO EASY. Plus, you can cash out your earnings at any time via bank transfer, PayPal, or gift card!
Receipt Pal
This is another one, much like CoinOut, that will give you credit for any receipt! Scan your receipts, get points, earn gift cards – it’s that mindless. You can also link your email and Amazon accounts to automatically scan for receipts and purchases.

BONUS: Slice (also by Rakuten)
This one is different from the others! You may not get cash back from using this app immediately, but it tracks purchases that you’ve already made to see if the price has dropped. If the price has dropped since you’ve purchased an item, the app will walk you through the process of getting a refund of the difference! I’ve had this successfully work on purchases from Target and Amazon online purchases. The app links to your email and Amazon accounts so that it can track what purchases you’re making – you only have to manually enter your info once! Set it and forget it!
I hope you’ll give some of these a try as you’re shopping in the next few weeks! Let me know if you try any and get some sweet dolla bills back in your account!
TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS: Have you tried any of these apps? What are some of your favorite ways to get cash back when shopping?
I used several of these myself and it’s amazing to see how much you can save in a year’s time with them!
I use Ibotta, Ratuken, and Fetch but I have heard of Coun, Receipt Pal or Slice. I just downloaded those, thanks!
I wish I read this before half my holiday shopping was done! Great tips, thanks for sharing.
